New York Truck Accident Lawyers Discuss Dangers of Larger Semis

The Senate Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations bill would allow trucking companies to operate rigs that haul twin 33-foot trailers. This is an extra five-feet of space from the current rules that allow tandem 28-foot trailers.

Those in favor of the change say the move would allow companies to move products in a more efficient manner. Opponents say allowing larger trucks on the highway will increase the risks of accidents.

According to WAMC Northeast Public Radio, New York Senator, Charles Schumer, is one of the nation’s lawmakers against the reform. In fact, he’s calling for other officials to prohibit larger trucks from traveling New York’s highways.
