Buffalo Sabres Players Visit Local Students to Promote “It Can Wait” Campaign

Most motorists acknowledge that distracted driving is dangerous. Yet some drivers, especially teenagers, continue to drive distracted in spite of knowing its inherent risks. In fact, a recent survey found that while 97 percent of teen drivers recognized the behavior as dangerous, a total of 75 percent stated that texting and driving was “common among their friends.”

AT&T is working to combat Buffalo Distracted Driving Accidents by conducting a campaign at local high schools called It Can Wait where students pledge not to engage in the behavior. A contest was recently held to see which school could gather the most pledges, and the results are in.

A story from the Amherst Times explained Sweet Home Central High School won the pledge drive. As a reward, professional hockey player and Buffalo Sabres goaltender Jhonas Enroth visited students. He then spoke to students about the meaning and importance of their pledge before thanking them for their participation.

Sweet Home’s hockey team was also rewarded for winning the contest by being invited to attend a practice session with Buffalo Sabres Center Cody Hodgson.
