Buffalo Biking Statistics Often Ignored

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released a report that put the number of “pedalcyclist” deaths for 2015 at 818 for the country.

There have been some complaints from Buffalo bicyclists that not enough has been done to make cycling safe.

The Buffalo Bike Master Plan

The City of Buffalo recently released the Buffalo Bike Master Plan. This is a plan to build new bike paths and create safer ways for bicyclists to get around Buffalo. This could also turn Buffalo into a premier cycling destination.

Much Still Needs to be Done

While the Buffalo Bike Master Plan is a step in the right direction, it does not cover every base. Riding a bike in downtown Buffalo can still be perilous. When the city is doing construction on the roads, the construction can sometimes eliminate many of the safer biking paths. This new focus on making Buffalo a premier bicycling environment has helped to bring attention to these issues.  However, much work still needs to be done to make the streets of Buffalo safe for bicyclists.
