Buffalo, New York, saw a string of hit-and-run accidents earlier this month that left several victims seriously injured. According to MSNBC News, one of the incidents was caught on film by police surveillance cameras.
The accident occurred several weeks ago on Thursday, May 3, at 3:00 a.m. on the corner of Letchworth and Grant Street. The footage shows three teens jumping out of the way as a car approaches them from behind. Two of the boys are able to jump out of the way, but another isn’t able to dodge the vehicle and is struck.
The victim was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment and is now recovering at home. The 19-year-old driver was stopped a short time after the accident after leading police on a pursuit through the west side of the city.
The accident was one of three instances of hit-and-run in the city in less than a day.
Mayor Byron Brown commended officers for a job well done, warning drivers who flee the scene of an accident: “We are watching, we will not tolerate it, and it’s just a matter of time before we will catch you and put you in jail for committing that crime.”
