Put an End to Driving Under the Influence This Super Bowl Weekend
January 30th, 2015|
The Super Bowl is taking place this weekend. That means many New Yorkers are preparing for the game and all the festivities that go with it.
St. Lawrence County STOP-DWI program says that Super Bowl weekend is notorious for increased rates of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Unfortunately, impaired drivers are also responsible for causing a large number of New York car accidents each year.
To help prevent drunk and drugged driving accidents, law enforcement agencies from throughout the state will be patrolling and conducting special operations to take impaired motorists off the road.
The Buffalo car accident lawyers with William Mattar Law Offices point out that you can do your part to prevent drunk driving accidents this weekend by:
- Not Drinking and Driving- Simply pledge not to get behind the wheel of a vehicle after consuming any amount of alcohol. You can encourage others to do the same as well.
- Designating a Driver– Before you head out to watch the game, decide who will be staying sober to drive home.
- Utilizing Other Means of Transportation– If you can’t get a designated driver, plan to use a cab, ride sharing service, or loved one to get you home safely.
North Country Now also provides several safety tips to consider if you’re hosting a Super Bowl party where alcohol will be served.
We hope these tips help you to have a safe and fun Super Bowl weekend!
