One person from Middletown, New York, was taken to the hospital after a six-car crash along the New York Sate Thruway near Sloatsburg. The accident involved a tractor-trailer and five other vehicles.
According to LoHud.com (a website representing New York’s Lower Hudson Valley), the accident happened southbound at 7:30 a.m. near Exit 15A. It closed down two lanes of traffic along the busy highway, causing morning rush-hour traffic to be backed up for about seven miles.
The chain reaction was initially caused by a crash into a disabled vehicle.
The name of the injured woman has not yet been released, state police said. She is believed to be from Middletown.
Two other accidents have recently occurred in this same area. A New York Trailways bus rear-ended a tractor-trailer. The bus driver and seven passengers were treated at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Later in that same area near Exit 15, a 20-year-old woman was killed. Her car veered across two northbound lanes and crashed into a truck parked along the shoulder.
