A tragic car accident took the lives of a young man and woman and seriously injured another young man in Greenwich, New York, on Saturday evening.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports that at 6:36 p.m. a 23-year-old resident of Argyle, New York, lost control of his car when he failed to negotiate a curve on county Route 52, north of Spraugetown Road. The car veered on to the shoulder, then crossed both lanes and hit a tree.
The man and his two passengers — a 19-year-old woman and 18-year-old man — were all ejected from the 2009 Honda Accord due to force of impact. The driver and female passenger were declared dead at the scene. Their bodies were taken to Glens Falls Hospital for autopsies, where toxicology tests were conducted. Results are still pending on those tests.
The 18-year-old male who survived the crash was taken to Albany Medical Center. His condition is not known at this time.
The Post-Star reports that mangled car parts were left strewn on the road where the crash occurred.
