Late last week, four young Jasper people were killed in a New York car accident, according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. Alcohol and distraction have been identified as the reasons for the fatal crash. Speed has been ruled out as a factor.

All of the car accident victims involved in the crash had alcohol in their systems. Only one of them was old enough to drink, while the rest were teenagers. One of auto accident victims had been crowned homecoming queen just hours before the tragedy.

A police official said the car drifted on the road, hit a guard rail, became airborne and struck a concrete abutment then came to rest on its side. Two of the car accident victims died on impact, according to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office, while the other too died shortly afterward.
