Car Accident Attorney
Jon Schutrum grew up in Grand Island, New York. In 2011, he graduated magna cum laude from the George Washington University with a degree in international relations and economics. He then earned his Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law in 2014.
During law school, Jon worked as a law clerk in the New York State Attorney General’s Syracuse office. He also worked at the Burton Blatt Institute as an advocate for disabled clients. As an admitted attorney, Jon worked at Neighborhood Legal Services (NLS) prior to joining our firm. At NLS he represented low-income Western New Yorkers in housing and family law cases.
Jon is admitted to practice in all New York State Courts, and is a member of the New York State Bar Association as well as the Bar Association of Erie County.
We asked Jon what he likes most about his job. He said “as an attorney at William Mattar, I get to advocate for people during some of the most challenging times of their lives. After suffering an injury due to the negligence of someone else, the stress, pain, and impact on a person’s livelihood can be profound. We focus on filing the right paperwork, negotiating complex terms with insurance companies, and getting the highest settlement possible. This lets my clients focus on recovering from their injuries. Taking some of the stress out my clients’ lives as we fight for their best interests is very rewarding. I also work with top-notch professionals who have decades of practical experience in the field. I enjoy working with a strong team that goes above and beyond for every client.”
Outside the office, Jon enjoys travel, time with family, and hiking around WNY with his two English Springer Spaniels
