Be a Protector, Get a CO Detector!

January is Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Awareness Month in the state of New York. That’s why William Mattar Law Offices is partnering with local nonprofit organization, The Amanda Hansen Foundation, to support awareness of this lethal gas and its harmful effects.

We will be teaming up with The Amanda Hansen Foundation and Tops Friendly Markets to give away thousands of dollars worth of carbon monoxide detectors at the Tops Market located at 150 Niagara Street in Tonawanda on Saturday, January 26 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Stop by to pick up your FREE detector while supplies last, with a limit of one per household.

The Amanda Hansen Foundation was established in memory of 16-year-old Amanda Hansen who passed away from carbon monoxide poisoning while at a friend’s house for a sleepover. The foundation’s main goal is to spread awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide in the home and to ensure that CO detectors are given to those who could not typically afford them.

New Year’s 2012

Buckle Your Belt Campaign

The firm supports our very own safety effort, the William Mattar Buckle Your Belt Campaign, which encourages the people of New York State to practice seat belt safety. We give people who promise to wear their seat belts 100 percent of the time the opportunity to win great prizes like vacations, laptop computers, and more. Around the Community

At William Mattar Law Offices, giving back to our community is a priority. Donating our time and raising funds for local organizations and community projects is just how we operate. Our team has raised money to support organizations that are important to you, such as the Children's Memorial Park, Ride for Roswell, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Toys for Tots, and many others.

Safe Ride Home Program

William Mattar wants to help limit the tragedies that result from drunk driving. The Safe Ride Home Program not only educates people on the alternatives to drinking and driving, but also gives tips on dealing with situations that may arise from such social settings. As another part of the program, William Mattar partners with Designated Drivers of Buffalo and Rochester to offer free rides home to people who have been drinking or need a safe way home.

Carbon Monoxide Poison Awareness Month

After losing their daughter to carbon monoxide poisoning, Ken and Kim Hansen created the Amanda Hansen Foundation, which distributes free carbon monoxide detectors to families. With the help of our firm, the Hansens have raised money to support the foundation, distributed more detectors, and increased awareness of carbon monoxide dangers in honor of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Awareness Month.

Boy Scouts of America

An Eagle Scout himself, attorney William Mattar gives back to scouting in the community. He is a leader in a local troop and, for many years, has organized and chaired significant fundraising events to support local scouting. He also had the honor of chairing the Boy Scouts One Hundredth Anniversary Gala for the Western New York area.
